Aqua Van - 150 Transcontinental Tour

  • Fort la Reine Museum (map)

Ocean Wise, a marine conservation organization at the Vancouver Aquarium, in Vancouver BC will be stopping by the Fort la Reine Museum for a special visit with their Aqua Van 150!

The AquaVan150 transcontinental tour was initiated to help celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation, and the AquaVan150 is visiting schools, camps, museums and community events from coast to coast to coast.

Ocean Wise provides experiential learning opportunities to families and youth. The AquaVan, started is an innovative way to take the Vancouver Aquarium experience to locations around British Columbia and western Canada. Programming is offered in both official languages, and facilitates personal connections to the oceans by allowing people to touch marine artifacts and live marine invertebrates and, engage with our ocean educators.

The program includes information on Canada’s waterways and highlight region-specific information including local history, indigenous peoples content, marine protected areas, current environmental challenges and science in support of ocean literacy. This project fosters civic appreciation and enhanced stewardship of our environment, increases collective understanding of our oceans and watersheds by connecting Canadians to their local aquatic habitats.

The Fort la Reine Museum is delighted to be hosting the Vancouver Aquarium AquaVan 150 in our Fort la Reine Museum parking lot on August 20th. Entrance to the Aquavan 150 is free for all.
