Adopt-A-Building Project

Help Keep History Alive—One Building at a Time

At Fort la Reine Museum every building tells a story—from fire halls and print shops to schoolhouses and homestead houses. These historic structures are more than walls and windows; they’re living connections to the past.

Now, you can play a direct role in preserving this history through our Adopt a Building program.

🔨 What Is “Adopt a Building”?

The Adopt a Building program is a unique opportunity for individuals, families, businesses, and community groups to support local heritage by committing to the care and upkeep of a historic building on our grounds for one year.

You choose the building. We guide the process. Together, we preserve history.

🧹 What’s Involved?

As an adopter, you'll help with the general upkeep of your chosen building—both inside and out. Tasks are light and seasonal, and we’ll provide guidance, materials (when possible), and check-ins to support your efforts.

Typical responsibilities may include:

  • Light cleaning and dusting

  • Minor touch-ups (paint, repairs, etc.)

  • Seasonal landscaping and maintenance
